Playtime at the Park

This weekend we discovered a really nice park on base at Lackland. The park has 3 different areas that are divided by age group and the equipment in each area is age appropriate. On top of that each area has a canopy over it to shade it during the heat of summer.

Carter loved the train area in the 3 and under section. He thought it was great to "drive" the train!



Time to go down a slide :) This kid loves slides!

Later he decided to venture over to where Kayla was playing and try and climb up some sort of curly ladder.

Kayla of course decided he was doing it wrong and needed to show him the right way to do it!

They loved the swings too....I didn't get a photo of it but later Adam pushed him and he did a complete sommersault off of the swing, got up and laughed hysterically!!!

Fun with the sprinkler

San Antonio has had a serious lack of rain for quite some time. The previous occupants of our house both worked full-time and therefore did not keep up with watering the yard very well. Adam and I have been working pretty hard since we moved in to try and get grass to grow again so it's not so dirty for the kids to play in. The other morning we had the sprinkler going and Carter decided to check it out (note here that this photo was taken at about noon and the temp was already near 90 that day!)


For those of you with good eyesight, yes he is in his pj's (my kids like to play outside all morning in their pj's) and yes that is his pull-up falling out of the bottom of his pants! You all have no idea how much I wish this kid would potty train, but alas he still could care less.......

Anyone who owns a Boston Terrier will know that you can't keep them away from water hoses! Titan is no exception :) This dog loves to try and eat water as it comes out of the hose or sprinkler and it is hilarious to watch!

Kayla and Carter's New Project!

The kids have been wanting to have a garden for some time. They caught the gardening bug last fall while we were living in Iowa and helped their Great Grandparents with their garden. The only problem with a garden in Texas is that our house is on top of extremely rocky soil!

As luck would have it however, the other day I ran to HEB for a few food items (I avoid the commissary on payday like the plague!) and found one of those Topsy Turvy Tomato growers on sale for $9.97. So we bought one and helped the kids plant a tomato plant in it. Every morning Kayla goes out to see if she can see any tomato buds yet (somehow I think that will take awhile, but try explaining that to an almost 4 year old!)

The new love in my life...

Before you even think it, no I don't have a boyfriend on the side :) I do however have a new love in life and in my kitchen....


My new cast iron skillet! I love this thing! I cannot get enough of cooking with it. I have even been able to push off getting a new grill because this thing does such a wonderful job! I actually got an awesome deal on it at the Williams/Sonoma Outlet store here (another new love of mine!). So what I am trying to say here is if you do not own a cast iron skillet you are definitely missing out and should probably go out today and buy one...It's well worth it!!!

Also I promise that more house photos are coming soon...Adam assures me that we are "working" on the office this weekend....and then I assured him that if it isn't done by the time we go to bed Sunday night, that I will be unpacking it on Monday :) I love my pack-rat husband, just not the pack-rat portion.....

My New Business

I just wanted to let you all know that I have started selling Scentsy Wickless Candles. If you have never heard about Scentsy let me tell you real quick about it. They are "candles" that you plug in and work using a light bulb. The best part is that there is no open flame, and therefore no fire hazard.
