The Diva and Soccer

So the Diva has started playing soccer this year. This is rather interesting considering....well...she's a diva. The first month was nothing but practice and she HATED it! She is not a big fan of sweating and they did alot of that during practice. She would come home at night and whine and cry while she begged to go to bed (at 6:30).

Last week she had her first game and really wasn't the greatest. She just kind of stood on the field looking annoyed. She didn't want to run, and she was worried about being kicked or knocked down. Adam and I were beginning to think that she was going to be one of those kids who pick flowers from the field during the game.

Thankfully, all of that changed this week!! She did amazing in her game today. She ran all over the field (getting nice and sweaty at the same time!) and she even had some really good kicks in. In fact, she almost scored a goal with one of her kicks. Her team won 6-3 which was nice too.

After the game she was all excited and kept saying over and over how much she loved soccer and how much fun she had during the game. I am hoping this means that we have turned the corner a bit with the diva-ness. Now that being said, she would still prefer to wear a dress while she played soccer, but we will work on that.

I have lots of photos from her game, but since they have lots of other kids in them I dont feel comfortable putting the photos on the web without their parents permission.

Where have we been???

So is anyone out there wondering why the heck I haven't updated this blog in over 6 months? It's ok because I was wondering the same thing :) The honest answer though is that we have been insanely busy!!

We moved in to our new house in Feb and I had surgery immediately after. That required a bit longer recovery than I had anticipated (see previous post) as I ended up back in the hospital with an infection.

In March Grandma L came to visit for Kayla's birthday. We had a huge party at Pump It Up (think large warehouse full of bouncey castles and yelling kids). We also went to the Riverwalk with Grandma and of course, Sea World :)

Adam and I were both TDY alot between April and May which was a nice break for each of us :)

At the end of May we flew back to Iowa for my brother's graduation from High School. We spent Memorial Day weekend in Burlington and then flew back on Tueday.

Here are the kids with Cale right after graduation was over....did I mention that it was sweltering in the gym that day????

After Memorial Day, we had a 3 week break before we had to fly back to Iowa again for Uncle Patrick and Aunt Kally's Wedding. Adam was the Best Man, and K and C were the Flower Girl and Ring Bearer.

Aren't they just adorable :)

After we got back from our 10 days in Iowa for the wedding, Kayla started tennis lessons. She absolutely loved tennis and we will be doing lessons again. I however did not appreciate that they were at 4pm in July which meant that the temps were well over 100 each day....

Here's my little tennis player at lessons.....

In August, Kayla's big day came....her first day of Kindergarten!! Wait, do I seriously have a kindergartener???? AAHHHH!!!! She is absolutely loving school which I think is great :)

After we dropped Kayla off at her first day, Carter and I spent the rest of the day together. We went out for breakfast and then off to the museum to see the Dinosaur exhibit. The dinos actually move and make noise which made him a bit nervous at first :)

So that pretty much brings us to today......we are smack dab in the middle of soccer season. Both kids have soccer on Mondays and K also has it on Wednesdays and games on Saturdays. Work has been very busy for Adam and I as well. Kayla has school, and Carter is still in daycare. One of these days life will slow down right????

Holy Pain Batman!

So we are just about moved into our new home, still have the office and garage left to finish at the old house. The nice thing about this move is that we can move a bit, put it away and then go get more. Much better than just having a semi-truck full of your stuff deposited at once in your living room.

So less than a week after we closed, I went in for some surgery on my neck....not going to get into any details on here though. So anyways, it has been forever and a day since I have had general surgery done, and I forgot one key fact...THE PAIN!!! Oh my goodness is the pain insane. I figured the Dr was crazy when she suggested taking up to 2 weeks off of work. I will be taking at least a week off, and then trying to work half days the 2nd week. My biggest problems right now are that due to swelling, it is really hard to chew and swallow any food so I am pretty much relegated soups. The other problem is that I can't turn my neck so I have to move my whole body to be able to see anything.

As I type this, I am sitting here dealing with the pain that hits about 45 minutes before my next pain pill, and it is NO FUN! So I decided to type a rambling blog post :)

Once the pain issue settles down, and we finish moving, I will share a few photos of the new abode.

January '10 Happenings

As promised, I am going to attempt to start blogging more regularly! This month, in between working, and getting ready to move, I have tried to get the kiddos out of the house on the weekends to help the time fly until Adam gets home. The past 2 weekends we have gone out with my friend and her 2 kiddos.

2 weeks ago, we took the kids to the Chilrend's Museum downtown. They had so much fun!

Here they are waiting for their friends to get to the museum.

Kayla loved the big treehouse inside the museum :)

I didn't feel the need to rotate this photo, but here is Carter playing in the giant bubble thing

The kids loved that they had a huge cow that you could milk, and there was even water that came out when you did it.

Carter even got in on the action. They both now figure that they can take over the farm for Papa :)

Someone loved the big model airplane to play in!

Kayla pretended that she was a flight attendant and would walk up and down the aisles asking people what they wanted to drink.

Yesterday, we took the kiddos to a giant indoor inflatable play land. Carter was blown away by the Cars inflatable play area.

Can you tell that he is happy :)

Have a great week everyone!

Oh my goodness...

I just realized that it has been nearly 3 months since the last time that I blogged on here!! Life has been crazy the last few months for us. Adam has been gone for training, we had the holidays, I am working full-time and most importantly.....we are buying a house :) That's right...we are about to be first time homebuyer...and enjoy that very nice first time home buyer home credit! I don't want to give out too many details about the house for fear of jinxing it, but once we have closed and settled in, I will share lots of details! Oh and one of my resolutions, is to get back into blogging on here lately. I expect you all to keep me honest on that one!!
