Movie Night in Mommy's Room

I had almost forgotten that we had a stack of Disney VHS tapes from when I was little. After seeing The Lion King dance recital Kayla is obsessed with it. Well as it turns out, The Lion King was one of the VHS tapes we have!

Here are the kids curled up on my bedroom floor for movie time in their sleeping bags. Kayla has a Strawberry Shortcake one and Carter has a Diego one.

Just chilling on the floor!

Kayla is so intent on the movie. She has been walking around all night singing "Da tuna Da tata" aka Hakuna Matata....

Now lets just hope that they fall asleep this way!

A first for Carter

As many of you know, Carter is by no means a sit down and watch a cartoon type of kid. He is ALWAYS on the go!! Lately however he has sat down for 5 minutes or so, which is real progress for me when I need to cook dinner! Well today he was so exhausted from playing at Claire's house all day that he sat down on the couch with his apple and fell asleep 2 minutes later!

Isn't he so adorable when he isn't moving, breaking things, falling, etc etc etc...
Such a sleeping beauty!

My economic stimulus present or We don't really need men...you choose your title!

I am very proud of myself! Today I went in to town and bought a trailer all by myself (ok with the help of Julie!) but anyways...I bought the trailer and the accessories I needed for it and got it registered, and then we hooked it up and brought it home. The reason for the 2 titles to this blog is this...the government said they want us to spend the economic stimulus checks to boost the economy...so there ya go! I did my part for the economy. The other title is because I am rather proud of myself for doing what would usually be considered a "man job". So there ya have it!
Here is an outside view of the trailer. It's a 5x8 trailer.

And a view of the inside for you (pre packing!).

I'm a big girl now...

The other night Kayla sent her daddy an email asking him is she could get her ears pierced. Here is the email she sent:

daddy..please i get my ears pierce like my mommy...i wear my sticker earrings like a big girl...please you let me get like mommy... Love,KK PS. Your the bestest daddy ever!!

And just in case you think she is some genius..I typed the email, she just told me what to say!

Well daddy decided that since she is 3 and asked for them that he could probably agree to it. Well that was all we needed :) We had to run in to town today anyways so we decided that today would be the big day. On the way to town Kayla informed Julie and I that she was getting diamonds in her ears because she "loooovvveeeesss diamonds!" I promise I have no idea where that came from!

So we got to Claire's in the mall and the lady handed her the sheet with all of the different earrings to choose from and Kayla handed it back to her and proclaimed "I just want diamonds cause I love diamonds!" The lady got a kick out of that!

Here is the big girl sitting on the chair waiting for the big event. They gave her a bear with pierced ears to hold on to.

Kayla's best friend Claire was with us to make sure we took care of Kayla. She got sticker earrings today to wear.

Time for mommy to explain a little how things are going to go.

She sat perfectly still while the lady marked her ears. I don't have any photos of the actual event. I have to say though, that she cried for a brief second (no screaming at all!) just some tears and wimpering. Once they offered her a sucker though, she was done crying!

Here she is showing off her new "diamonds" aka CZ. They are small but hopefully you can see them! So I guess now she is officially a big girl!

Time to pack...

Kayla came to the conclusion today that it was time to pack up her toys for the big move to Aunt Jackie's...little does she know that we are not taking all of her toys!

She methodically went thru every tub and basket making sure to pull out her toys and Carters that she thought they might need, and then packed them in a rubbermaid tun.

Here she is packing more dolly clothes...she was humming cartoon songs the whole time :)

Time for the little packer to pose for a picture :)

Reasons why I don't like dogs!

If you notice from the time stamp on this post, it is the middle of the night. For the first time in a long time, I actually made it to bed at 10:30 so I could get some sleep. Well at 1:30 the dogs decided that I didn't need to sleep anymore and woke me up whining...well an hour later we are still up! I let them out to pee, so lets hope that that fixes the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only problem now is that I have been awake for an hour so it's going to be hard to get back to sleep. I'm tellin ya I can't win!

More Birthday photos...

As promised, here are more photos from Kayla's special day..

Carter and I woke her up to Happy Birthday...she was surprisingly chipper!

We even let her open her presents in bed right after waking up. Carter and I each gave her a Strawberry Shortcake purse with various pieces of jewelry and hair accessories...

Carter brought her balloons from her party up to sing to her.

I let Kayla decide what to have for breakfast. I offered pancakes, waffles, eggs and bacon, but she chose cupcakes instead...go figure!

Time to open her present from Daddy....

He sent her a purse he bought from a merchant in Qatar. It is beautiful!

Here she is modeling her purse.

Julie and I took the girls to the Lion King in town. It was put on by the local dance studio. The girls look really serious for some reason!?!?!

This isn't the greatest photo of the 2 of us, but it's not to bad..

Here are "Aunt" Julie and Claire..the girls wore their matching giraffe dresses...

After the Lion King we took the girls to Applebees for dinner. Kayla insisted that we get cheese sticks for an appetizer!

I love this picture..

After dinner the wait staff came over to sing Happy Birthday to her and she got so embarassed!!

She hid from them as they sang!

Time to eat her ice cream...

Happy Birthday Kayla!!

3 years ago today (and after several hours and a significant amount of pain!!) Adam and I welcomed our first child, and baby girl Kayla Marie in to the world! I still can't believe that she is 3 years old already! Time flies so quickly......
Here is our baby girl right after she was born.

Here is the 3 year old. Can you believe she will be starting preschool in the fall!!

I taped Carter singing Happy Birthday to Kayla this morning...ENJOY! To hear it better, scroll to the bottom of the blog page and push pause on the music!

More birthday party photos..

Here is Kayla eating one of her yummy cookies.

Uh-oh...looks like Carter is out of a job for the night!

Kayla and mommy posing at the end of the party.

After the party, Claire and her mommy came over to hang out for awhile The first thing they wanted to do was get out the bubble maker that Kayla got.

Time to move on to the dolls. Each girl took a doll, which worked out perfectly. The even recycled the boxes and used them for beds and dressing tables!

Here is Claire with Strawberry, I think she is trying to do her hair!

Kayla took care of Angel Cake for the night.

I think Kayla had an absolute blast at her birthday party! Tomorrow for her real birthday we have a girls day out planned. Carter is hanging out at the neighbors with his buddy David. Julie, Claire, Kayla and I are going to the Lion King ballet that is being put on by the local dance studio, and then we are taking the girls out for dinner. Should be a blast!

Kayla's Birthday Party

Kayla's birthday is this Sunday (the 20th) so on Friday night we had a birthday party for her at the base bowling alley. I can't believe she is already 3 years old! Time flies so quick!

Here is the birthday girl all ready for her Strawberry Shortcake birthday party. She has on her shoes that daddy got for her, a strawberry shirt, mommy's old Strawberry Shortcake belt, and a strawberry barrett (strawberry overload!!)

Here she is posing for everyone at the bolwing alley. Since her feet are to small for bowling shoes, she got to wear her SS socks.

Yep, she's still a nose picker! I am trying really hard to break her of it!

Here are the beautiful cupcakes that Mikki made for her. She even got strawberry cake for the cupcakes!

Just a glimpse of everyone bowling. Carter stayed by the ball return all night and handed everyone a ball when it was their turn.

She's such a ladylike eater!

I really think that ball weighs more than her!

Here are the "twins" waiting in anticipation for their ball to roll down the lane.

SCORE!!!!!

Kayla got so embarassed when everyone sang Happy Birthday to her!

She got tons of wonderful presents for her birthday, including this Strawberry Shortcake doll. She also got an Angel Cake doll just like it, plus movies, books, games, Pet Shot etc etc etc..

Time for cake...

And of course there was no way Carter would miss cake...after he finished this one he looked and me and said "Mo cake peesh.."

MMMMMMMM CAKE!!

Instead of goodie bags, we gave each kid a Strawberry cookie. Mikki also made the cookies for us and they were wonderful!
