Flashback Friday

Sabrina over at http://raisingoaksofrighteousness.blogspot.com/ has started doing Flashback Friday, where you post old photos and reminice (spelling?) about them. It sounds like a ton of fun, and since I took over 2000 photos of Kayla's first year alone...not so many of Carter's, but we won't go there :) So anyways, I thought that I would share a couple of photos with you all.

This first photo is of Little Miss Kayla when she was born. She weighed 7lbs 10oz.

This next one is of Mr Carter when he was born at at whopping 10lbs 5 oz. The funny part about these 2 photos is (and it's hard to see here) that they are both laying on the exact same scale at the same hospital. In bigger versions of the photo you can see the matching serial numbers. Every time I look at them it cracks me up how Kayla barely takes up half of the scale, yet Carter was close to needed a bigger one :)

They are almost 18months apart and currently weight the exact same amount!

Feel free to have your own Flashback Friday, and let me know if you do so that I can look at your photos :)

6 years

6 years ago today, Adam and I were in Las Vegas....why were we there you might ask? To get married :) You see, we had just gotten engaged the month before, and in that short amount of time the AF informed us that if we didn't get married very soon (instead of the next year when we planned to) that we would probably not be stationed together our first few years on Active Duty. Well that was pretty much unacceptable to me so off to Vegas we went :)

We kept everything low key (to the point that no one knew) mainly because we were only doing it for the AF and still planned to have a wedding the next year. We stayed at the Stardust (which doesn't exist anymore) and had a limo take us to the chapel.

We got married at the Little White Wedding Chapel, which is actually a fairly famous one (lots of celebs have gotten married there). The best part was that the wedding and marriage license together cost a whopping $125....wouldn't it be nice if all weddings were that cheap :)

We don't have any photos from the actual ceremony because I didn't want to pay the big fee to the chapel. We only have a small collection of photos that I had taken with our disposable camera and then scanned. The photo above is of us right after we returned to our hotel from getting married.

Time to celebrate in our room before heading out for dinner :)

I still can't believe that we have been married for 6 years! Time flies when you are having fun :) So Happy Anniversary sweetie and here's to many many many more years to come!

Blame it on the heat....

Ok I know that was a lame attempt at being funny :) Anyways, if any of you actually pay attention and/or care that I haven't posted anything lately I have to say that honestly I don't really have an excuse or reason why not. So I have decided to just blame it on the heat :) To say that it is hot out would be an understatement......we have broken the record highs every day for at least the last week. Today it was 105 when I went to pick the kids up from daycare!! So basically, we don't do much in the way of excitement around here. During the week the kiddos are at daycare (while I very impatiently wait for my orders to start working again) and then on the weekends we like to sleep in. By the time we wake up and get moving, it's already too hot out to do much of anything!

So basically we just piddle (is that a word?? and I don't mean piddle like my dog does when he is excited) around the house doing little things...ie. organizing the office, scrapbooking, reading etc etc etc.... So yep...just gonna blame my lack of posts on the heat (we blame everything else on it so why not)!

School work

Kayla absolutely loves doing school work! We are really trying hard to encourage this, so we sit down every day with her and work on it a bit. Today's task was writing her A's and B's and I think she did an AWESOME job!

The Very Hungry Catepiller

Today as Adam and I were watering our plants we noticed that something had eaten most of the leaves off of the jalapeno plant. Upon closer inspection we noticed an enormous caterpiller on one of the stems. It appears to us that he is preparing to spin his cocoon.

Here is another view of the big guy!! Guess I know where all of the leaves went :)

Then after we brought the kids outside to see him, we happened to notice a second on lower down on the plant.

Here is a better view of the 2nd guy.

I am very excited that the kids get to witness this! This will be a really neat thing for them to see.
